How To: Connect a Domain Name you Already Own
Read All About It:
If you'd like to use a domain name you've already registered from a company like GoDaddy, you can do so by following the instructions below.
1. Upgrade Your Site to a Domain Connection Plan
- First, you'll need to upgrade your Lifeyo website to a domain connection plan for just $30 a year.
- If you haven't created a website yet, you can upgrade when you create one. If you already have a site, just login to your Lifeyo Dashboard and click the "Upgrade to a Domain Name" button next to the site you wish to connect.
- A new window will pop-up. Make sure you choose the "Use My Domain" plan. Once your payment is processed, you'll be ready to connect your domain!
- Once your website is updated, you then need to log in to your Domain registrar (ie Godaddy) to make changes to the domain name you wish to connect. Your goal is to make changes to the "A Record" of the domain.
- When you are logged into your domain registrar, look for an option to access the “DNS Management” page of the domain you wish to connect.
-
Within the “DNS Management” options, you now need to enter the Lifeyo IP Address (70.86.136.162) in the A Record settings.
Enter "70.86.136.162" for the following two entries:
-- Domain root (typically the "@", "A" or *)
-- WWW - After you've made the changes, you'll need to sit back for up to 48 hours for your site to be connected properly to the domain name.

2. Make a Changes to Your Domain Registrar (i.e. GoDaddy)
Specific instructions when using GoDaddy:
- After you’ve upgraded your Lifeyo website to a domain connection plan, go to www.GoDaddy.com to log into your Domain Manager.
- Once you are logged in, click the “Domain Manager” link
- Click on the domain name you wish to connect to Lifeyo.
- Find the area labeled “Total DNS.” Click the link “Total DNS Control.”
- You now want to make two changes. First on the “@” line under A (Host), click the “Edit” button (to the left of the delete icon).
- Now, in the “Points to IP Address” box, enter “70.86.136.162” and click “OK.”
- Now, click the “Delete” button next to “www” under “CNAMES.”
- Finally, click “Add New A Record” with the following info.
- After you click “OK” there should now be two new entries under “A (Host)” To confirm, the window should look like the one below.

In the window that appears, under “Host Name:” type, “www.” Under “Points To IP Address,” enter “70.86.136.162”

Within 48hours (usually less) your domain name will be connected to your Lifeyo website. Congrats!
